Paparelli's Movie Reviews
Well, it's just, like... my opinion, man

Paparelli's rating: (0 = worst, **** = best)

I was so pleasantly surprised by this movie. I'm not a great fan of 3D animated animal movies as they all seem to copy (almost all) elements from eachother. But I saw this one on advice from a friend and it does really stand out in its genre.

Technically, the way 3D is used in this movie is quite refreshing. There's a well made effort to introduce focussing in this animated feature (using a finite focal length lens simulation), which results in realistic camera effects (in contrast to the flat, sharp line rendering of many 3D animation movies).

Framing and composition of the shots and especially the lighting are superb for this kind of movie. Such good use of technical possibilities, all supporting the cinematic experience.

And it's such a difference to have good actors for the voices. Even though one only hears the voices, it's noticeable how well these actors are typecasted. The characters of their voices fit the personalities of the roles they're playing very naturally.

The story is funny and has appeal to all ages. And there are actually new and funny jokes for a change. This movie is nice to see and is rich enough to enjoy more than once.
