Another monumental Bollywood movie that offers a total movie experience. This movie manages to be entertaining and even fascinating for over three hours! The key to capturing your audience's attention succesfully for such a long stretch, lies in the fact that many different genres are represented as the story unfolds.

The base is the good old romantic comedy. Bollywood movies have raised the level of this genre to an artform of it's own, complete with videoclip like scenes featuring love songs and dancing.

There is also a strong coming-of-age, rites-of-passage storyline, but what's perhaps more surprising is that this movie evolves into a classic modern super hero, a science fiction and even a martial arts flick all within the same, plausible and entertaining story. Oh, and it's a sequel to another movie. Wow...

All genre elements are performed at very high standards of production quality and that makes it one of the most rich and diverse movies I've ever seen. Camerawork and production design/artwork are on par with the famously high Bollywood standard and render occassionaly breathtaking eyecandy. The use of the right music at the right time results in very effective dramatic emphasis.

I guess you have to like romantic comedies to really enjoy the full 3 hours of its length, but even if you don't, it's still a delight to see a movie of this quality and completeness. The actors are very total performers as well. Main characters often perform their own stunts, they sing, dance and maintain a flawless body shape. These people are living works of art. Priyanka Chopra, the female romantic lead, also was Miss World 2000 by the way, not surprising when you see her.
